Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Recall account and what happens afterward.

1. How to Delete Your Account

In the Recall app, go to Settings › Account › Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps. Deletion is permanent.

2. What Will Be Deleted

Deleting your account deletes or anonymizes personal information associated with your Recall account, including:

• profile information and the email/name stored by Recall,
• the link between your account and your Apple sign-in,
• wordlists and folders,
• saved words, meanings, examples, and notes,
• uploaded images and recognized text stored for AI processing,
• AI-generated study sessions stored in the cloud,
• review history and spaced-repetition (FSRS) data,
• streaks and weak-word statistics,
• cloud-sync records,
• active sessions (you are signed out of every device).

3. What May Be Retained

We may retain limited information where required or permitted for App Store transaction and subscription records, refund or dispute handling, fraud prevention, security, tax or accounting compliance, or legal obligations. Where possible, retained records are minimized and separated from active app data.

4. Backups

Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten in our normal backup cycle. We do not use backups to restore deleted accounts except where necessary for security, legal, or disaster-recovery purposes.

5. Subscription Cancellation

Deleting your Recall account does not automatically cancel your App Store subscription. To cancel, manage your subscription through your App Store account settings.
